National
Night Out
2006

_________
Borough Police held their 6th annual National Night Out on August 4th.
National Night Out is a nationwide one-night rally where citizens and
law enforcement join forces to strengthen neighborhood spirit and
police-community partnerships. The evening is also for the
community to get to know their local officers.

This year's event was, by far, the largest we've ever had despite the
looming threat of rain. Organizer, Community Relations Officer
Ronnie R. Steppat Jr., went above and beyond in bringing the activities and
organizations together. This year he had everything from pony
rides to Sponge Bob Square Pants. There were
also three giant inflatable rides that even eclipsed some local
buildings. Members of Freehold Borough Police, Freehold Township
Police, Monmouth County Sheriffs Department, Freehold First Aid, and the
Freehold Fire Department were all on hand.

Most importantly, though, were the more than 300 Borough residents who
turned out for the event. It was a great opportunity for them to
meet our officers, see our equipment and hear about some of the things
we are doing and things we have planned. Events like this are very
valuable to us. Often we get excellent feedback and ideas from our
residents.

The success of National Night Out 2007would not have been possible
without a great deal of help from various people and businesses.
Below, we would like to acknowledge some of them.

All in all, it was a night of tremendous fun for both the public and the
Borough Police. We were able to meet a lot of great residents,
business owners and some wonderful kids. We are already looking
forward to next year.
